This is where Fuerteventura really comes into its own. The island is a beach lovers paradise, with long sweeps of golden sands backed by wild sand dunes. Fuerteventura is simply the best for beaches in the whole of the Canary Islands, below we have listed some of the bays you may wish to visit during your stay.
El Cotillo
Located on the north west side of the island, this are has a small gathering of tourist development including one 3 star all inclusive hotel. This is one of the best spots to enjoy the beautiful beaches of Fuerteventura, to the south of the village the waves are high and with strong winds. This is where the surfers, kite surfers and active sports people gather. Just along from the harbour area and slightly to the north of the small town are a number of small bays that are separated only by lava rocks. Here the sea is calm and the water shallow, making it ideal for all age groups including very small children.
Jandia & Moro jable
Beautiful powder soft sands and turquoise colored seas, this has to be one of the best beaches in the whole of Europe. It stretches for a total of 21km from the small town of Moro Jable all the way up to the resort of Costa Calma. The main bathing area starts from the Iberostar hotel and goes south to the delightful holiday town of Moro Jable, this area offers good safe bathing in the main. The beach that runs along in front of Moro Jable is particularly good for swimming as the sea in generally calm as it is protected from the winds, ideal area for children. Most areas of this coast a common with naturists as nude sunbathing is permitted.
Corralejo town & Dunes
The beaches around the town of Corralejo are lovely soft sand with mainly shallow waters making them ideal for all age groups including very small children. There is a run of small cove beaches that are broken up by rocks or lava rocks, the sand is soft and powder like with very clear seas. Popular with locals and tourists alike, from here you can see the small island of Los Lobos with Lanzarote in the distance. To the south of Corralejo is the Parque Natural de Dunes, this is an 11km stretch of beautiful soft sand backed by sand dunes which is now a protected area with no further development. The wind blows most of the time, but is a special place and well forth a visit, this area is popular with naturists.
Caleta De Fuste
Nice sweep of soft pale sand with very safe bathing as there is a man made break water. At one end of the beach is an attractive harbour where you can enjoy a drink or light lunch. This is one of the first areas of the island to be developed and offers a good choice of holiday accommodation. The beach here has all the normal tourist facilities including sunbeds and parasols.
Costa Calma
Offering a lovely bay which is about 1.5km in length, soft pale sand and good bathing for all ages including young children. This small holiday resort features a number of holiday hotels and apartments that back onto this attractive stretch of beach. Good tourist facilities with some cafes, bars, restaurants and shops just back from the beach. Windsurfing school. This beach is also an official nudist bay.
